Nokia Lumia 800 Review

Nokia Lumia 800 Review

The Nokia Lumia 800 is the company’s first Windows Phone device. This represents Nokia’s best attempt to compete with Droid phones or the increasingly popular iPhone. With a smooth black finish (also available in other colors), the phone’s shell is made of polycarbonate plastic. This gives is a little bit different feel from other smart phones. This represents one of the phone’s weaknesses as the plastic side buttons are somewhat hard to use. They also seem rather flimsy and breakable. One of the biggest letdowns of this phone is the absence of a microSD card spot; you are getting the 16GB that the phone comes with. The phone has a very high contrast and the display is great, as Nokia has made use of AMOLED technology. Many will like the fact that this phone is not as bright as the iPhone, though it produces a comparably sharp image.

Under The Hood & Software

With the Windows technology, specifically Windows Phone 7.5, the Nokia Lumia 800 is a great phone for multitasking. This makes it more comparable to the iPhone than the Droid phones, as one can easily play music while web browsing. Internet Explorer is a particularly cool feature on this phone and the new Lumia 800 comes stocked with the newest Internet Explorer 9. With the phone’s quick engine, browsing is perhaps quicker on this phone than its competition. The search tab on the Lumia 800 is very user friendly and the phone comes stocked with music recognition software—no need for the popular Shazam app with this phone.

The operating system on this phone is one of its best features due to the deal between Nokia and Microsoft. Nokia has been given the freedom to customize the OS more than other companies and customize they have. You can download a map pack before going to a particular area to avoid the data bills that would normally accompany a spontaneous download of a large map pack. The phone uses MixRadio, which uses both local and global streaming. This phone’s performance and apps are great as Nokia has used a 1.4GHz Snapdragon processor. Thisprocessor is the best available among the Windows phones. Despite the great display, the phone’s video camera can only record videos at 720p.

The camera is also pretty much average, though this phone actually has a front camera as well. The phone handles high contrast motion photos very well if the right lighting is present. When buying the phone, the battery life is average though a new update for the Lumia 800 has since tripled the battery life making this a huge plus on the model.

1) awesome screen and navigation.
2) ease: all email accounts, facebook and linkedIn set-up in 5min. No application required
3) transferred contacts from old phone using bluetooth. worked very well

Overall Awesome experienced, I got. Thanks for your valuable post.
