iOS vs. Android, Which suites you.

iOS vs. Android, Which suites you

Smartphone and tablet PCs are becoming the standard devices that people keep by their sides, and in their pockets, practically always. Just like with any fresh trend, there are more options, and hence more choices. This can seem daunting so some. If you are in the market for a new portable device, there are two leading operating systems that need attention: iOS and Android. To make this decision easier, below is a discussion of the key benefits, and downsides, of each of these.

Ease Of Use

What good is a new device if you cannot figure out how to use it properly it? Many claim that iOS offers a more stream-lined, and hence more user friendly, experience. iOS tends to be more stable, because it is specifically designed for iPhones and iPads, while Android is run on many different devices. If you want something that is simpler, iOS is ideal. If you are comfortable with technology, and wish to have more options, Android is the best choice.

Ability To Connect

There is no point having a good smartphone or tablet PC if it cannot connect to other devices, and the Internet, easily.

Android is known for its wide range of options, and this includes the ability to connect any way you want. Android devices can use Google Chrome (naturally), Mozilla Firefox, and otherInternet browsers to sync up with your desktop. That means you can have accesss to bookmarks, usernames, passwords and even open tabs, no matter what device you are using. As Android is made by Google, they offer exhaustive syncing via their own Google accounts.

If you want to move files between your Android producct and other devices, all you need to do is plug in the USB cable, then drag-and-drop. There is no software needed.

Apple offers sign-in using their own Apple ID system. For those who love iTunes, there is complete syncing capability there. In order to transfer data or media, there is special software required. You can sync your iTunes account with iOS products, making the process simple.

Obtaining Apps

What would a modern smartphone or tablet PC be without apps? These programs are the reason that many people want to upgrade. There is an app for just about anything that you can imagine doing with a phone or tablet.

Apple’s App Store has tight control over what can be distributed in their virtual market place. If they do not like a developer’s app, they will not let them upload it. This leads to far fewer free apps, but increases the quality of the ones available. However, just be sure that you are willing to part with a few dollars when you go shopping for that new voice effect app or day-planner that you desire. There are also plenty of apps made especially for iPads, whereas there are still few that are optimised for Android tablets.

Google Play works more like an open market, allowing small-time developers to join in the fun. It is easy to have an app uploaded onto it, but that means there are loads of useless and inferior apps. Some apps are even reported as being malicious to users. The benefit is that you can usually find a free alternative for any app that you are looking for. You just have to read the reviews in order to weed out the scammers.

Customisation

iOS is not known for allowing users too many choices. This is not what Apple wants to give the world. They want to sell devices which are fun and easy to use for everyone. If you do not care about being able to tweak the layout of your home screen, or change the way that your operating system runs, iOS will be your best friend. Some people just want a powerful product that cannot be customised for days on end. However, if you are a real lover of technology, you might feel restricted by this, rather than liberated.

Android devices can be changed in so many ways that it almost makes your head feel light. It is like a computer geek’s fondest dream. Days can drift away while changing this setting, and tweaking that one, until you have something which truly feels like it was built just for your personal needs.

Remember that there are many companies making Android devices, so their quality and power varies. If you want to compare one to an Apple device (which will be expensive but of high quality), you should do so with an equally expensive Android device.

Now you are better prepared to choose your new device. Choose Android if you are comfortable with technology and wish to have more options. Choose iOS if you want something that is easy to use, yet still powerful.
